Cinétracts (1968) Learning Beyond the Classics
The Learning Beyond the Classics Series on 1968 ends with a special additional screening made possible by the Cinema Department of the French Embassy, who has subtitled 21 of the original 41 documentary shorts on and from May 1968 in France. A series of documentary shorts were directed (without credit) by several famous French filmmakers (including Godard, Resnais, and Marker) and each run between two and four minutes. Each “tract” espouses a leftist political viewpoint through the filmed depiction of real-life events, including workers’ strikes and the events of Paris in May 1968.
