Overview
Foxtrot (2017) Michiana Jewish Film Festival
Director Samuel Maoz returns with his second narrative feature after the success of Lebanon in 2009. Foxtrot swept the Ophir Awards, winning eight categories including best picture of the year. The focus here is a troubled family who must face facts when something goes terribly wrong at their son's desolate military post. Eschewing a realistic approach to that storyline, the three-part narrative takes a metaphorical route to open cultural and political questions central to Israeli current affairs not often addressed so boldly in the cinema.
