Solera Quartet

Presenting Series

Sunday, November 12, 2017 2:00PM
Leighton Concert Hall

Following its electrifying performance of the Second String Quartet by Arnold Schoenberg—the father of the Second Viennese School—with new Notre Dame faculty member and renowned soprano, Kiera Duffy, the Solera Quartet returns for a full recital of music from the First Viennese School.

Join the Solera Quartet for an exhilarating afternoon of works by two titans of Classical music, Haydn and Beethoven. The Soleras will take the audience on an emotional journey of string quartets with evocative nicknames, from Beethoven's mercurial La Malinconia (Melancholy) quartet, to Haydn's rollicking Quinten (Fifths) quartet, ending with Beethoven's stormy and tumultuous Serioso quartet.

Planned Program
Beethoven String Quartet in B-flat Major, Op. 18, No. 6, La Malinconia
Haydn String Quartet in D Minor, Op. 76, No. 2, Quinten
Beethoven String Quartet in F Minor, Op. 95, Serioso

Program is subject to change.

Co-sponsored by Department of Music.
