March on the Pentagon

War, Cinema, and Activism

Thursday, October 12, 2017 7:00PM
Browning Cinema

Directed by David Ringo
Not Rated, 21 minutes, DCP

On October 21, 1967, David Ringo filmed a 16mm of the march on the Pentagon, which became an incredibly important document of resistance to war. Now 50 years later, a print has been digitally restored for Notre Dame. With approximately 50,000 participants involved in the actual march to the Pentagon, the protest included Norman Mailer, Allen Ginsberg, and the co-founders of the Yippies (Abbie Hoffman and Jerry Rubin). Prior to March on the Pentagon will be Carolee Schneeman’s 7-minute short Viet Flakes.

Panel discussion to follow.

This is a free but ticketed event. Tickets will only be available for pick-up one hour prior to the performance. To guarantee your reservation please pick-up your Will Call tickets at least 15 minutes prior to the performance. In the event of a sell out, unclaimed Will Call tickets will be used to seat patrons waiting on standby.

Co-sponsored by the Kroc Institute for International Peace Studies and the Notre Dame Department of English.
