The University Band at Notre Dame is one of the most unique ensembles on campus, with membership comprised of undergraduate and graduate students, faculty and staff members, community musicians, and alumni. More than 150 strong, this group meets weekly throughout the academic year and performs a wide variety of repertoire. This concert will feature selections from composers including John Philip Sousa, David Holsinger, and Igor Stravinsky. Dating back to 1845, the Notre Dame Band is the oldest college band in continuous existence in the United States. The Band was the recipient of the 2011-2012 Sudler Trophy, considered the Heisman Trophy for college bands, and was declared a "Landmark of American Music" by the Indiana Music Educators Association.
