D2: The Mighty Ducks (1994) Sunday Family Films
Having defeated the cake-eating Hawks for the Minnesota state PeeWee Championship, the ragtag Mighty Ducks reassemble with some new talent (i.e., Dean Portman, Kenny Wu, Julie “The Cat” Gaffney, Luis Mendoza, and Dwayne Robertson) and compete for the USA in the Junior Goodwill Games. Coached again by local lawyer Gordon Bombay (Emilio Estevez), the team faces unimaginable challenges: the allure of selling out, overscheduled lives, and the quantum leap in talent level between local hockey leagues and international competition. Still, even when everyone says it can’t be done, Ducks fly together, and those Ducks will need to be together to defeat youth hockey leviathan Iceland.
