Central Park Five (2012) Learning Beyond the Classics
Filmmaker Ken Burns, famous for anthological “completist” documentaries, works with Sarah Burns and David McMahon to examine a 1989 case of five teenagers who were wrongfully convicted of raping a woman in New York City. After they had spent from 6 to 13 years in prison, a serial rapist confessed to the crime. The film will be an opportunity to examine the Expository Documentary, which are the bulk of documentaries made today and involve narration, educational approaches, and talking heads to discuss a topic.
