Bombshell: The Hedy Lamarr Story (2017)

Michiana Jewish Film Festival

Austrian actress Hedy Lamarr fled an oppressive marriage to create a name for herself as one of Hollywood's top leading ladies in the 1940s. Behind the glamour and sex appeal, though, was a talented and inquisitive inventor who created a radio system now considered to be the basis of Bluetooth technology. This documentary examines that fascinating and complex life, from her time in Austria, the Nazi onslaught, her acting, her relationships with studio bosses, her later reclusiveness, and her often overlooked scientific work that led to her induction into the National Inventors Hall of Fame.

The feature will begin at approximately 5:30 p.m. after a screening of the short film Stitchers: Tapestry of Spirit (2017), about women artisans of different faiths and parts of the world joined together in an ambitious and unifying project to recreate the entire Torah scroll in needlepoint.
