Overview

BPM (Beats Per Minute) (2017)

New at the Browning

Previously profiled in the documentary How to Survive a Plague and active since the 1980s, ACT UP was and is a direct action advocacy group for people with AIDS. BPM tells a similar story of the organization, albeit in a narrative form, of the Parisian wing of the international group. The film follows the work of French activists, in particular Nathan (Arnaud Valois) who joins the group and quickly comes to the see the tension between fellow members as they debate, democratically, how radical to be in the face of the AIDS pandemic. This screening is a rescheduled event from the ScreenPeace Film Festival.
